Doggies Suffer While Gas Spikes
It's hot out; people run airconditioners; air conditioners use electricity; peak usage electricity is made by gas fired turbines; gas demand increases; prices go up; Neubie turns a little profit. As I predicted, natural gas spiked up to $8.00 (I didn't actually try to predict the price just the direction). I sold out 1/3 of the Nymex September Natural Gas Futures I had accumulated at an average price around $6.50. I want to be out of most of these positions while the weather is still hot. I also want to hold a little position just in case another hurricane drives prices back to $15.00 / mmBTU like last year.
Conservation:
I write from my country house/cabin that has no airconditioning but is in the woods and has an ingenious little heat sink system that uses a fan to separate hot air from cool. On this 100 degree day the house stays in the 85F (29 C) range. The dogs that are visiting this week still lie on the floor wishing I would do my part to drive up natural gas prices and buy them an air conditioner.
Disclosure:
I am long September 2006 NYMEX MINY NATURAL GAS INDEX (QGU6)
