Instead of the Bureau of Labor Statistics; I was interacting with the Bureau of Land Management.
It wasn't the NYSE open I was watching but the sunrise over the sand. It wasn't an earnings report I was chasing but an art car with a full bar roaming The Playa. I wasn't in New York City; I was in Black Rock City. I wasn't waiting for the market to close; I was waiting for The Man to burn. I wasn't trying to figure out esoteric series of Ford Motor preferred; I was trying to figure out how to find the water slide at 2:30 and Eager. I wasn't waiting for the right moment to sell calls against my position in AMD; I was trying to looking for the right moment to take a photo of a 15 story Belgian Waffle at sunset. I wasn't busy being disgusted by out of control CEO ripping off shareholders I was busy holding my nose at a porta-potty in 100 degree heat. Instead of reading The Economist; I was participating in a peace message to the Middle East photographed from the air and writen in human bodies. Instead of watching Wal-Mart management pretend to be Green I was AT Wal-Mart buying a week's worth of water and supplies. Instead of watching the Dollar fall; I was watching the Temple burn. Instead of braving CNBC reporting; I was braving dust storms. Instead of analyzing win-loss ratios trades; I was feeling my heart and moving on. Instead of interacting with blog readers; I was interacting with Playa flies. Yes I was at Burning Man 2006. And, instead of sharing my economics and investment views; I was giving hugs, sharing beer, meeting up with old friends and making new ones.
